My goal in life is to be an Event Planner. As a senior in college I am getting steps closer to my dream. With this post I will explain how I am working towards reaching my goals, in hopes to inspire other Event Planners just starting out.
Getting Smarter
Getting Smarter
There is
nothing I love more than learning about event planning and applying
my gained knowledge to the organizations I am involved in currently, such as
clubs, and jobs. I have taken advantage of
the variety of experiences college has offered to me, including an internship
with Lady Bugs Events and Weddings, which has inspired me to journey down the path as an event planner. The key is to not be picky, but courageous and take
chances. Becoming an event planner is not something that I learn over night, but it must be
something I work at each day. Additionally, I must be able to think on my feet,
organized and flexible and those are not qualities I necessarily learn in the
classroom, but through experiences. Although an education is very important and
my first priority, finding the balance between that and experiences is how I
know I will conquer my dreams of being an Event Planner. Have a Vision
Developing a brand and marketing plan isn't easy, I am not going to lie. This could make or break any business
business. For my future business I want to create a brand that
reflects my own personal style as event planner, but is still attractive to all
different types of brides and grooms. As a senior in college my mind is always
racing about how I want to develop my future brand, and how I want it to
represent myself. And I believe I have a solid start with Weddings & More. Living the Midwest there is a special place in my heart for
country chic style, but I still love the high-end glamorous look. I want to be
able to offer a variety of wedding design and décor. I hope to someday market
my brand to communities through out the mid west including rural areas. It does
not matter what your way of life I believe everyone deserves his or her wedding
dreams to come true.
Setting #Goalz
Snap my
fingers and poof my business is up and running. Oh, I wish it were that easy!
Like I said before, being an event planner does not happen over night. I have
set goals for myself, starting with finishing school, getting an internship and
then full time job. In reality I know it is not a cheap job field to enter, nor is it cheap to
start a business. Personally, I need to build up funds in order to start
acquiring décor inventory and a business location. Then will I have to network
myself to develop relationships and gain clients. Like the saying goes, it is not what you know, it is who you know. In this industry that could not be more true, I will have to start from the
bottom and work my way up. It will be long demanding hours, but in the end I know when I
am doing something I love it is all worth it then. I cannot wait to the day I
see a bride and groom faces light up when entering their ceremony or reception
and seeing their vision of perfectly coordinated décor, down to the last
detail.
